Requirement
Gunwharf Quays is a central part of the Portsmouth harbour regeneration scheme. The concept was to create a multi purpose area for residential, retail and leisure units.
Designed by 3D Reid architects they wanted to create a modern townscape encompassing squares, streets, arcades and a seafront promenade. A complex of this size requires a roof product that can be installed on time and can remain watertight for many years to come. This project comprises several different roofs of varying pitches, size and design, so the flexibility of the product was essential.
Solution
Protan SE 1.2 membrane was specified as the roofing material as it met all the required elements. The membrane has a proven durability in excess of 30 years ensuring that the complex remains watertight. It can also be laid on a host of different roof decks making it ideal for the diverse roofs of Gunwharf Quays. Protan SE membrane can be installed quickly which is ideal for a project requiring many thousands of square metres to be laid. It was also installed without adhesives meaning that it is both efficient and environmentally friendly as it can be fully recycled.
Warranty
A 15 year warranty is standard on all Protan SE mechanically fixed systems. This comes with an assurance that all Protan (UK) Ltd products have excellent durability and high performance under extreme weather conditions.
