Itβs now official: Protan SE has been granted a Technical Approval (TGA 2024/010) by ETA Denmark with a documented service life of at least 50 years. As far as we know, we are the first in the industry to achieve this for a PVC-based roofing membrane.
«This is a milestone for Protan. It’s the result of more than 30 years of documented performance with PVC membranes in the Nordic climate, combined with advanced laboratory testing and real-world field studies. Now we have independent third-party verification of what we’ve known for a long time: Protan SE lasts – for at least 50 years»
β What does the approval say?
In the official technical approval (TGA 2024/010), ETA Denmark concludes:
"The single-layer roofing system consisting of Protan SE, when correctly installed, has a service life of at least 50 years."
The documentation is based on:
The assessment applies to all Protan SE membranes with thicknesses from 1.2 mm and up.
ETA Denmark is an independent technical body that issues European Technical Assessments (ETA) for construction products and is widely recognized as an authority in product documentation and quality assurance in the building industry.
π Important clarification
The documented service life applies to the membrane material itself. As always, the total service life of a roof depends on correct installation – including details such as penetrations, overlaps, and terminations.
π¬ Industry context: A strong signal
Service life is a key indicator of long-term roofing performance. With independent third-party documentation confirming a service life of at least 50 years, Protan is setting a new benchmark for single-ply PVC roofing membranes – backed by thorough testing and long-term experience.
π Proof of our values – and our vision
This approval is more than a technical stamp. It shows how we actively live our values every day:
All of this aligns with our vision:
Futureproofing Waterproofing.
We protect buildings, assets – and the future.
