Protan Supplies Roofing for Norwegian Modular Homes in Ukraine

Eight completed housing modules from Moelven Byggmodul AS have been sent to Borodyanka, west of Kyiv, Ukraine. The modules are intended to provide safe, temporary housing for families who have lost their homes due to the war.

Borodyanka is among the areas most severely affected, with extensive damage to homes and infrastructure. Modular construction offers an efficient solution, as units can be produced under controlled conditions in Norway and assembled quickly on site.

This is a pilot project led by Moelven Byggmodul, in collaboration with Norwegian and Ukrainian partners. The goal is to develop a sustainable model for modular housing in Ukraine. The units are delivered fully equipped with kitchen, bathroom, ventilation, and technical installations.

Protan is contributing to the project by supplying roofing membranes free of charge for the first building, which contains four residential units. The roofing solution helps protect the buildings from weather exposure and is a key part of ensuring technical quality.

«This pilot project is the result of a unified team pulling in the same direction to create something meaningful together.»

In addition to providing civilian housing, one or more of the modules are planned to accommodate employees from the local hospital. Moelven has also signed a letter of intent with a Ukrainian mortgage company to explore possibilities for further expansion.

For Protan, this is an example of how Norwegian products and solutions can contribute to international collaboration projects with a clear social purpose.
