Intensive green roofs have a layer of soil that is usually deeper than 300 mm. This solution is highly suitable for vegetation with deeper roots, such as bushes and trees.
Intensive green roofs have a thick layer of soil and can be laid out as a roof garden with trees, shrubs and hedges.
The heavy soil layer offers protection against wind and fire and enables the use of a loose laid membrane.
Protan GG is a robust and strong membrane suitable for intensive green roofs. It tolerates water pressure and standing water. The membrane also adapts to the movement and settlement that occur naturally in structures, and any irregularities in the substrate do not spread to the membrane. It is also extremely resistant to cold temperatures.
In some cases, this type of roof is also referred to as semi-intensive – in which case the soil level is lower than for intensive roofs, but thicker than that used for extensive sedum roofs.
Protan products have among the lowest carbon footprints in the category of roofing materials. Here you can browse our products by category or application area.
