Project overview

As part of its European expansion, Amazon initiated the construction of three large-scale logistics centres in Poland. Protan was selected to deliver high-performance waterproofing membrane systems for all three facilities.

The project represents a major logistics investment and demonstrates Protan’s capability to deliver reliable roofing solutions at exceptional scale.

The challenge

Large logistics centres place extreme demands on roofing systems—both in scale and performance. For this project, key requirements included:

  • Reliable waterproofing across very large roof areas
  • Efficient installation to meet tight construction schedules
  • High durability and low maintenance needs
  • Compliance with international standards expected by a global client

The solution

Protan delivered a complete roofing solution based on its Protan SE membrane system, specifically suited for large industrial and logistics buildings:

  • Durable PVC membranes ensuring long-term waterproofing performance
  • Installation methods optimized for large, open roof surfaces
  • Strong technical support and local presence through Protan Poland
  • A system designed for predictable performance over time

The combination of Norwegian expertise and local execution ensured both quality and competitiveness.

Results and value

The project highlights Protan’s ability to support large international developments:

  • Successful delivery across 315,000 m² of roofing
  • Strengthened position in Poland—Protan holds approx. 25% market share in flat roofing
  • Increased visibility in key European markets, including Germany
  • A robust roofing solution supporting high-efficiency logistics operations

Strategic importance

The investment by Amazon in Poland was driven by:

  • Proximity to major European markets
  • Access to a highly skilled workforce
  • Strategic positioning for distribution across Europe

For Protan, the project reinforces its role as a trusted partner for large-scale, international construction projects.

Social and economic impact

Each logistics centre employs approximately:

  • 2,000 full-time employees
  • Up to 3,000 seasonal workers during peak period

In total, the development contributes significantly to regional employment and infrastructure.
